Right to Return at a Glance
This page is a short, plain-language overview of the Customer's right to return Products purchased on refurbed. It is for information only and is not legal advice. The applicable law and the full Seller Warranty Conditions (example - please refer to the Seller Warranty Conditions in the country you operate) always take precedence over this summary.
What the right to return is
Under EU consumer protection law, any Customer who buys a Product online (a "distance contract") has the right to withdraw from the purchase without giving any reason. This is a statutory right that applies automatically to every sale on the refurbed marketplace.
The statutory return period
The statutory withdrawal period is 14 days from the day the Customer receives the Product. Within that window the Customer may cancel the contract simply by informing the Seller clearly (e.g., by email or via their customer account). The Product must then be sent back without undue delay.
Extended return period on refurbed - the 30-day Trial Period
Under the Seller Warranty Conditions, Sellers on refurbed voluntarily extend the statutory 14-day period to 30 days from delivery (the "Trial Period"). This means:
The Customer may return the Product within 30 days without giving a reason.
If the Product is returned undamaged and shows no signs of use beyond normal testing, the Seller refunds the full purchase price.
Return shipping costs during the Trial Period are borne by the Seller (except for bulky Products, where a proportionate share may be charged).
If the Product shows impairment or damage beyond normal test use, the Seller may issue a Partial Refund reflecting the reduced value.
For (E-)Bikes used more than 10 km beyond normal test use, the refund may be reduced by the diminished value, and by at least 10% of the purchase price.
Refund process
Once the returned Product is received and inspected, the Seller issues the refund using the original payment method without undue delay. Under EU law, the refund must be issued no later than 14 days after the Seller is informed of the withdrawal.
Customer obligations on return
Before returning a Product, the Customer must:
Reset the Product to factory settings, remove all personal data, and deactivate personal accounts (e.g., Apple ID, Google Account).
Package the Product securely — original packaging or a sturdy box with filler material (envelopes are not sufficient).
Use the return label provided — free return shipping applies only when the Seller's label is used.
Reduction in value
The Customer is liable for any diminished value of the Product caused by handling or use that goes beyond what is necessary to test the goods (e.g., checking their nature, characteristics, and functioning). Normal test use does not trigger a reduction.
Repair or exchange during the Trial Period
Instead of returning the Product for a refund, the Customer may request a repair or exchange during the Trial Period, provided this is feasible with reasonable effort and cost. If a repair or exchange is carried out, the Trial Period is extended by 14 days from the date the Customer receives the repaired or exchanged Product back — or the original remaining Trial Period applies if longer.
Statutory rights remain unaffected
The 30-day Trial Period is a voluntary extension by the Seller and does not limit the Customer's statutory 14-day withdrawal right. Where both overlap, the Customer benefits from the longer period.
