Seller Warranty at a Glance
This page is a short, plain-language overview to help you understand how the Seller Warranty works. It is for information only and is not legal advice. The full and binding terms are set out in the Seller Warranty Conditions (example - please refer to the specific country version on the website you are operating) on refurbed's website, which always take precedence.
What the Seller Warranty is
As a Seller on refurbed, you grant every Customer a contractual Seller Warranty on all physical products, in addition to their statutory consumer rights. The warranty runs for 12 months from the date of purchase and does not replace or limit any statutory rights the Customer may have.
Your options when a Product is defective
When a valid claim is made, you can choose how to resolve it:
Repair the original Product (the preferred route where feasible);
Replace it free of charge with a Product of equal or higher quality; or
Issue a Refund based on the Product's current fair market value.
If the returned Product has damage, functional issues, or wear beyond normal use, you may issue a Partial Refund that reflects the reduced value. In all cases, the Product must be returned to you using the provided return label.
Warranty period after repair or replacement
After a repair or replacement, the warranty is extended to at least 6 months. If more than 6 months remained on the original warranty, that longer period continues to apply. For a full Product replacement, the extension applies to the whole replacement Product; for a repair, it applies to the repaired or replaced component.
30-day Trial Period (extended withdrawal)
You extend the Customer's statutory withdrawal right from 14 to 30 days (the "Trial Period"), during which they may return the Product without giving a reason.
If the Product is returned undamaged, you refund the full purchase price; if it shows impairment or damage beyond normal test use, a Partial Refund may apply.
You bear return shipping costs during the Trial Period (except for bulky items covered by the bulky-products rule).
For an (E-)Bike used more than 10 km beyond normal test use, you may reduce the refund by the diminished value, and by at least 10% of the purchase price.
Customers may also request a repair or exchange during the Trial Period where reasonable, which extends the Trial Period by 14 days from receipt of the returned Product.
How the process works
The Customer submits a written claim through their customer account within the warranty period.
Refurbed customer service registers the claim and informs you.
You provide a prepaid return label.
Your technicians inspect the Product, and the Customer is kept updated and receives a replacement or refund where warranted (refunds go to the original payment method).
What Customers must do
Reset to factory settings, remove all personal data, and deactivate accounts (e.g., Apple ID, Google Account) before returning.
Package the Product securely (original packaging or sturdy protective packaging — envelopes are not sufficient).
Report defects without undue delay, and no later than one month after discovery, and provide proof of coverage (e.g., the invoice).
What is not covered
The Seller Warranty applies only when the Product is used and maintained properly. It does not cover, for example:
Damage from improper use (e.g., broken display or casing, fluid damage, non-certified chargers, jailbreaking/rooting);
Consumables and wear parts (e.g., batteries within normal aging, memory cards, lens caps);
Fragile elements (glass, displays, lenses) and minor cosmetic deviations;
Damage from unauthorized repairs, deliberate damage, environmental events, or non-compliance with manufacturer instructions;
Consequential damages, and water/dust resistance (which may be lost during refurbishment or repair).
Where a defect results from the Customer's obvious gross negligence, the warranty is excluded and the Customer bears the return shipping cost.
A few practical points
Bulky Products: for returns exceeding standard shipping dimensions, you may charge the Customer a proportionate share of the return shipping cost, with advance notice. This also applies during the Trial Period.
Address changes: must be reported promptly. Costs are yours within the same country; extra costs may fall to the Customer for a new address in another EU country, and to the Customer entirely for a non-EU address.
Statutory rights remain: Customers keep their statutory 14-day distance-selling withdrawal right and any claims against the original manufacturer.
