EPR Registration Number is strictly speaking only the umbrella term. Each country has its own registration processes. You must observe each country’s process in order to be EPR compliant!
💡 You may first have to appoint an authorized representative if you do not have a branch in Germany or Austria. Furthermore, as the registry can be rather complicated, it is generally advised to have first contacted a PRO who will do the registration for you.

In 🇩🇪 Germany you must…
In addition to joining a PRO, register for each product category (packages, WEEE, batteries).
- For Packaging: "LUCID" assigned by the Central Agency Packaging Register;
- For both WEEE ("WEEE-Reg.-Nr. DE") and
- Batteries (“Batt-Reg.-Nr. DE”) the EAR foundation.
Please keep in mind: Registration for WEEE in Germany may take up to 6-8 weeks!
In 🇦🇹 Austria you must…
- If you have no branch in AT, appoint an authorized representative (”AR” more info here). The AR will conduct the registration for the GLN number and participation to a PRO for you.
- Join a PRO (done by AR if present) which will submit a membership number.
- Register at the authority edm.gv in order to receive a GLN number → Done by the PRO/AR
- GLN does not apply to 📦 packages.
In 🇫🇷 France you must…
- (Only) join a PRO which will submit the "Unique Identification Number(s)” (UID) per category.
Format of numbers
The GER EPR packaging 📦 number has the following format: DE5896952331051. This is the ZSVR/Lucid registration number.
- Prefix DE for Germany.
- Followed by 13 numbers.
GER WEEE number 📱 as well as battery number (Batt-Reg.-Nr. DE) 🔋 have the following format: DE87654321
- Prefix DE for Germany.
- Followed by eight numbers.
All UIN numbers 📦📱🔋 in France have the following format FR239691_01VNFV
- Prefix FR for France
- Followed by six numbers, the ninth character is an underscore _
- The last four characters of the number are capitalized letters
