💡 The Extended Producer Responsibility, short EPR, is an environmental policy instrument from the EU to manage the after-use phase of products and foster circular economy ♻️. Producers (= sellers) have to pay EPR fees based on the quantities of specific products (i.e. electrical & electronic equipment 📱, batteries 🔋, textiles 👕, packaging 📦) placed on the market to be compliant. The Producers are therefore held responsible for the waste originating from selling certain products and the EPR fees are mostly used to cover the costs of waste management.
What happens if I am not compliant?
Non-compliance may lead to significant penalties (depending on the severity of the violation and member state) and suspension from the refurbed marketplace.
