What is new?
A new API method, OrderService/UpdateShippingLabelAddress, has been added to the Seller API. This method allows you to update the shipping label address for an order whenever address validation occur during label generation.
The functionality is available for both outbound and return shipments. The updated address is used exclusively for shipping label generation and does not overwrite the original customer address. The original address remains the source of truth for invoicing, compliance, traceability, and customer-related records.
Why this change?
This update reduces manual handling of shipping label issues and improves operational flexibility when generating labels through refurbed’s shipping agreement. It enables faster resolution of invalid address data and helps avoid unnecessary order cancellations or manual interventions.
Important
Changing the shipping label address can invalidate Klarna and PayPal fraud protection. Both payment providers require proof that the shipment was delivered to the address approved at the time of purchase.
By updating the shipping label address, you accept the risk that a future dispute may result in a chargeback from the payment provider.
Please also note:
- The original customer address is never modified
- It is not possible to change the original country
What does this mean for me?
If there is an address issue when generating an outbound or return shipping label using refurbed’s shipping agreement, you have the following options:
Update the shipping label address
Use the new API method to provide a corrected shipping label address.
Cancel the order
Ask the buyer to place a new order using the correct address details.
